Governor John Bel Edwards visited Saints training camp in Metairie yesterday and discussed the 450-million dollar plan to renovate the Mercedes Benz Superdome. Edwards says the massive renovation would also result in a new long-term lease agreement between the state and the NFL franchise.

Convicted child killer Jason Reeves’ August 19th execution date has been delayed after his attorney filed a federal appeal. Even if the appeal was not made, it seemed likely the execution would not occur because the state does not have the drugs to carry out a lethal injection. Calcasieu District Attorney John DeRosier says that’s just an excuse…

The oppressive heat continues today. The northern half of the state is under an excessive heat warning. The forecast calls for a high temperature of 101-degrees in Shreveport. A heat index of 110-degrees is predicted for Alexandria. Rain chances increase tomorrow, providing a break from the intense heat.
