The House Ways and Means Committee has approved bills to create a flat three-percent personal income tax and to eliminate the corporate franchise tax on businesses. Today, the same committee will consider legislation that will need voter approval in March that makes changes to the state constitution for Landry’s tax plan to be enacted.
Voters overwhelmingly approved of a constitutional amendment to direct revenues from alternate offshore energy sources to coastal restoration. Simone Maloz (mih-LAWZ), the campaign director for Restore the Mississippi River Delta, says it expands the offshore revenue sources currently used for coastal restoration beyond the traditional oil and gas.

The amendment was approved by an almost three to one spread.
The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children is asking parents, guarding and caregivers of children five-years-old and under to share their experiences with early childhood education in the state.
