The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s office has charged a Breaux Bridge man with 59 counts of trafficking of children for sexual purposes. Investigators say 32-year-old Javien Demouchet was soliciting minors for sex in exchange for money and or gifts. The arrest stems from one juvenile victim.

Senator Bill Cassidy is hosting a Louisiana Energy Security Summit today in Baton Rouge. Cassidy says among the purposes of the summit is devising strategies for advancing energy security in a changing global landscape.

Cassidy says China is exploiting lax environmental standards which is allowing them to increase its energy production taking jobs away from the United States.

Former LSU defensive back Greg Brooks Jr. has filed a lawsuit against LSU and Our Lady of the Lake hospital, alleging negligence in the treatment of a brain tumor that’s left him unable to walk and talk. The lawsuit claims that Brooks was left “permanently disabled” after surgery to remove the tumor. Legal Analyst Franz Borghardt calls it a “kitchen sink” lawsuit…

The lawsuit alleges LSU failed to recognize the serious health condition in a timely manner and the surgeon who performed the surgery was not qualified. Our Lady of the Lake defended its quality of care in a statement.
