A new report from the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s office finds 19-percent of the people who called a state hotline to report child abuse hung up before a staff member within DCFS’s Child Welfare Division could answer the call. Nearly 76-thousand calls were made to the hotline during Fiscal Year 2022. And the average wait time is seven minutes.
