Louisiana has a near total ban on abortions and the candidates for governor were asked at a recent debate if there should be a ballot initiative so voters can decide if abortion should be legal or if there should be exceptions for rape and incest to the state’s abortion law. State Senator Sharon Hewitt agrees with other Republicans in the race and the one Independent, opposing a ballot initiative.
