State Police has suspended its defensive tactics training programming after several cadets at the Training Academy had to be treated for multiple injuries. One cadet reportedly had a fractured arm. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has set up a mechanism that allows hunters to test their harvested deer for the presence of chronic wasting disease, which has been found in deer in surrounding states. Hunters seeking to have their harvested deer tested for CWD can complete a form on the LDWF website and then for the cost of $37.50 can have tissue from the animal tested at the nearest LDWF Field office.
