After leaving his job as Secretary of the Department of Transportation on Saturday, Shawn Wilson announced this morning he is running for Governor this fall. Wilson’s entry would make him the only widely-known Democrat candidate in the race thus far. Wilson’s former boss, Governor John Bel Edwards is in Asia this week on an economic development trip. The governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Eric Holl, says Edwards will engage in meetings with major companies who are currently invested in the state and future partners…

Slidell Police arrested Mario Andre Scott over the weekend after he allegedly shot two brothers early Saturday morning. Scott was taken into custody in Jefferson Parish. Cops say 47-year-old Miguel Doucette and 36-year-old Kerry Doucette were fatally shot in their home after an argument Scott had with the brothers about a confrontation he had with their father.
