Former state senator and chairwoman of the Louisiana Democratic Party Karen Carter Peterson will reportedly plead guilty soon in a federal courtroom for allegedly using campaign dollars and money from the Democratic party to gamble. Peterson resigned from the Louisiana Senate in April for what she called personal reasons.

Former broadcaster and lawmaker Ron Gomez has passed way at the age of 87. Gomez owned radio stations, was the voice of the Ragin Cajuns from 1961 to 1979 and while serving in the state legislature in the 1980s he convinced lawmakers to use state dollars to build the Cajundome in Lafayette
