Governor Landry gives his prediction on the Supreme Court’s action on Louisiana’s congressional map and what he hopes the contract for LSU’s football coach will be. Jeff Palermo has the story.

Roadwork completed ahead of schedule is being celebrated in St. Tammany Parish. The widening of a three-and-a-half-mile stretch of I-12 between LA 22 and LA 1077 was expected to be completed by next spring but favorable working conditions and dry weather made it possible to open those lanes yesterday. There are now at least six lanes between highways 59 and 1077 hopefully easing traffic in the Mandeville/Covington area.
Dr. Kendrick Nicholas has been named the interim president of McNeese State. The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors has appointed the senior vice president for student affairs to serve as interim president after Wade Rousse was hired to be LSU’s system president. Dr. Nicholas says they will continue to focus on recruitment, retention, and job placement of McNeese students.

Nicholas is a New Orleans native who came to McNeese as a football player.
With November being America Recycles Month, the group Keep Louisiana Beautiful is encouraging everyone to recycle. Tomorrow, Ouachita Parish residents are invited to drop their recyclables off at the Monroe Civic Center for Ouachita Green’s America Recycles Day. Melissa Kenyon with Keep Louisiana Beautiful says this is especially helpful for those who don’t have recycling service at their homes.
