There was drama in Tuesday night’s win over North Dakota State, but no drama last night as the top ranked LSU Tigers scored seven times in the first inning on their way to a 13-3 run rule win. Derek Curiel scored the game’s first run and then drove in two to complete the seven-run inning. Jared Jones hit two home runs, a three-run shot in the third inning and a two-run blast in the fifth inning and William Schmidt got the win on the mound.
Louisiana Tech once again easily handled Nicholls, beating the Colonels ten to nothing. It’s the first time since the 2021 season that the Dogs shut out the same opponent in back to back games. Luke Nichols tossed five shutout innings. Tech will host South Alabama this weekend.
ULM baseball lost two games to third-ranked Arkansas yesterday. And ULM softball lost in Baton Rouge, falling to fourth-ranked LSU 12 to 4, as Tori Edwards hit two home runs.

The search for a new men’s basketball coach at U-L Lafayette can get going now. The Cajuns season ended last night with a 67 to 49 loss to Old Dominion in the Sun Belt Tournament. U-L Lafayette finishes the year with a 12 and 21 record, 8-and-10 in the Sun Belt. Bob Marlin was fired at the start of conference play. Derek Zimmerman did an admirable job as an interim coach, but the Cajuns will likely look elsewhere for a new head coach.
At the girls state basketball tournament…Avery Ryan scored 15 points and had 19 rebounds as Cedar Creek defeated J-S Clark 47 to 44 to improve to 28-and-3 and advance to the Division 4 select state championship game, where they’ll play the Southern Lab Kittens.
