The ULM men’s basketball team snapped its ten-game losing streak last night by beating in-state rival U-L Lafayette 72-66. Russell Harrison led the way for the Warhawks as he scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds. Koreem Ozier added 15 points. Mylik Wilson and Cedric Russell each had 13 points for the Cajuns and redshirt freshman shooting guard Devin Butts did not play because he’s been suspended for an undisclosed disciplinary reason. The same two teams will play today in Monroe.

Louisiana Tech will host Conference USA West Division leader U-A-B tonight for the start of a two-game series. The Blazers have won six in a row and they are nine and one in league play. UAB ranks in the top ten in the nation in field goal percentage defense and scoring defense. The Bulldogs are 8-and-4 in league play.

And the Pelicans continue their Mardi Gras road trip by visiting Dallas tonight. Both teams are two games under the .500 mark.

LSU baseball is picked to finish fourth in the SEC West in a preseason poll of the league’s coaches. Ole Miss is the preseason favorite to win the West, followed by Mississippi State and Arkansas. Florida is the favorite to win the east.

Sam Houston is the preseason favorite to win the Southland Conference. McNeese is picked to finish second and Southeastern Louisiana third. Northwestern State received one first-place vote and is expected to finish fifth in the Southland. Nicholls is predicted to finish ninth in the 13-team league. The college baseball season begins a week from today.

The top two teams in women’s gymnastics meet tonight at the Maravich Center as second-ranked LSU hosts first ranked Florida at 6:15.

The Lady Tigers lost to Florida in overtime in the PMAC last night as the Lady Gators won 73-66 to drop LSU’s record to 8-and-9 overall, 6-and-5 in the SEC. The Lady Cajuns won a school-record tenth straight game as they defeated ULM 65-51.
