The LSU baseball team is getting ready to play another tough SEC opponent as the Arkansas Razorbacks will be at Alex Box Stadium for a three-game series. The Hogs will send left-hander Zach Root to the mound tomorrow. He’s 6-3 with a 3.95 ERA and last week against Texas, Root threw eight shutout innings and struck out a career high 11. LSU has struggled to score runs in its recent losses, but Coach Jay Johnson is not overly concerned about his offense…

It’s the last weekend of regular season play for the Southland Conference. The league’s team eight-team tournament begins next weekend, the top two finishers will host a double-elimination tournament at their park next weekend.
Southeastern Louisiana is looking to wrap up the top seed and they are at Nicholls. The Colonels need wins to get in the tournament. McNeese is in position to still get a two seed and host three other teams next weekend. The Cowboys are at Northwestern State. The Demons have won five in a row.
The tenth ranked LSU softball team was eliminated in the SEC Tournament today by second ranked Oklahoma. The Sooners won four to one. LSU is hoping they’ve done enough to capture a top eight national seed.
The Cajuns advanced in dramatic fashion in the Sun Belt Tournament as Samantha Roe hit a two-run double in the seventh to beat App State two to one. U-L will play either Marshall or Coastal Carolina in the semifinals.
Tonight ULM faces Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals.
