The 9th ranked LSU baseball team had a chance to sweep Alabama, but they could not beat the Crimson Tide on Saturday, losing seven to four. Coach Jay Johnson says, despite the loss, it was a good week..

This week for LSU, they host Northwestern State on Tuesday and then welcome the defending national champs to the Box as fourth ranked Tennessee and the Tigers being a series on Friday. Tennessee dropped a series to Kentucky over the weekend, scoring just three runs in the final two games of the series.

The Ragin Cajuns won a pair of extra inning games at Old Dominion to win the series two games to one. ULM lost a series to 20th ranked Troy, the Warhawks avoided a sweep by beating the Trojans seven to three.

 

Louisiana Tech won its sixth straight series as the Bulldogs defeated Liberty four to three on Saturday. Tech also won a one-run game on Thursday and dropped a five-to-three decision on Friday night. Coach Lane Burroughs….

The Bulldogs are 10-4 in Conference USA, a half a game back of Western Kentucky and Dallas Baptist, who are tied for first in the league. Tech will host ULM on Tuesday.

McNeese and Southeastern are tied for first place in the Southland. The Cowboys won a series versus A-and-M Corpus Christi. The Lions took series versus UTRGV.

Grambling won seven in a row after sweeping Alcorn State. The Tigers are at U-L Lafayette on Tuesday.

Former Ruston High and Louisiana Tech pitcher Cade Gibson made his Major League debut yesterday with the Miami Marlins. Gibson pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one hit, no runs and struck out two. Miami beat the Phillies seven to five in ten innings.
