The eighth ranked LSU baseball team was down six to two in the fifth inning last night, but scored five runs in the fifth inning and went on to beat Mississippi State eight to six to take game one of the series. LSU’s starting pitcher Kade Anderson did not have it as he gave up five runs in 4.1 innings, but Zac Cowan was outstanding as he threw four scoreless innings and struck out seven. Same two teams meet again at 6:30 tonight.

The LSU Lady Tigers will face North Carolina State tonight in the Sweet 16 Round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. LSU is playing its best basketball of the season as they scored more than 100 points in their first two NCAA Tournament games, second team ever to score 100 points in back-to-back tournament games. North Carolina State made it to the Final Four last year and in its last game against Michigan State, the Wolfpack made 15 three-pointers in an 84-49 victory.
In the men’s basketball tournament, Alabama made a tournament record 25 three-pointers in a win over BYU. Florida also won, but 10th seeded Arkansas lost in overtime to Texas Tech.
