LSU moved up five spots to number 8 in the AP 25 poll after an exhilarating   29-26 victory over Ole Miss in overtime. LSU trailed most of the game, but tied it with 27 seconds left on a 23-yard Garrett Nussmeier touchdown pass to Aaron Anderson on a fourth downplay. And then Nussmeier threw a touchdown to Kryen Lacy for the game-winning score in O-T. But Coach Brian Kelly says it was the defense that gave them a chance to win…

Linebacker Whit Weeks had a career-high 18 tackles and defensive end Bradyn Swinson had two sacks as LSU as a team had six sacks. The Tigers are 5-and-1 and 2-and-0 in the SEC and at Arkansas this Saturday.

The Saints rallied from a 17-0 deficit to take a 27-24 lead at halftime, only to fall apart in the second half and lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 51-27. Coach Dennis Allen had this to say afterwards…

The Saints suffered a couple of injuries. Tyrann Mathieu went down with a wrist injury and Chris Olave left with a concussion. It’s the fourth straight loss for New Orleans who gave up 594 total yards, second most in franchise history.

ULM is now 5-and-1 for the first time since 1987 after beating Southern Miss 38-21. The Warhawks are 3-and-0 in the Sun Belt. The Ragin Cajuns are 2-and-0 after beating Appalachian State 34 to 24. Southeastern Louisiana is 2-and-0 in the Southland after winning easily over Houston Christian 37 to 7. Tough loss for Grambling as the Tigers fell to Alcorn State 17 to 15 on a field goal in the final seconds.
