LSU football has received a commitment from the nation’s number one cornerback, D-J Pickett who is from Tampa, Florida. The five-star corner chose the Tigers over Oregon and Miami. Pickett says he wanted to be coached by LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond. He joins a star studded recruiting class that also features the nation’s number one quarterback Bryce Underwood and running back Harlem Berry.
LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson also had big recruiting win yesterday as left-handed pitcher Cooper Williams decommitted from Texas A-and-M and committed to LSU. Perfect Game ranks Williams as the 12th best left-hander in the country. He’s six-foot-four, 175 pounds from Alvin, Texas. Pickett features a 93-mile per hour fastball and Perfect Game says he also has a big slider and changeup.
Louisiana Tech catcher Jorge Corona has signed a free agent deal with the Chicago White Six. The Miami native hit .316 with 16 homers and 51 RBIs last season.
