The Saints have reportedly declined the fifth year option for offensive guard Cesar Ruiz. This means the 2020 first-round pick will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2023 season, if the Saints do not re-sign him before free agency starts in 2024. Ruiz struggled at times his first two seasons, but was more consistent last season until a Lisfranc injury ended his season in Week 16.
Former South Carolina assistant Jimmy Lindsey is the new defensive line coach for LSU. Lindsey has over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience and Coach Brian Kelly says he has a proven track record of developing D-Linemen.
West Monroe is expected to name a new head football coach by the end of the week. Two names have surfaced as candidates, former ULM Coach Mike Collins and Jess Curtis, who just left Many for the head coaching job at Natchitoches Central. The Rebels are looking to replace Jerry Arledge, who is staying on as the school’s athletic director.
