The LSU Lady Tigers are national champs of women’s basketball. It was a team effort for LSU as they scored a championship record 102 points in a 102-85 win over Iowa at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Five players were in double figures led by Jasmine Carson who scored 22 points and hit seven three-pointers in the first half. Alexis Morris had 19 of her 21 points in the second half. Angel Reese a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds. LaDazhia Williams had 20 points and freshman Flau-jae Johnson had 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

For Tickfaw native Kim Mulkey, this is her fourth national championship as a head coach. Mulkey says she left Baylor to win a national title in her home state…

The Ragin Cajuns avoided a sweep with a six to nothing win over Appalachian State yesterday. Cooper Rawls improved to 6-and-0 on the season by throwing 5.2 innings of shutout baseball. Julian Brock hit a grand slam.

ULM and Louisiana Tech dropped two out of three.

Nicholls took two of three from Lamar. Northwestern State won its series against UNO. Southeastern and McNeese lost their series. Grambling swept Arkansas Pine Bluff.
