Instead of returning to Louisiana, receiver Odell Beckham is heading to L-A as the New Orleans native and former LSU star has signed a one-year deal with the Rams.

Cam Newton is back with the Panthers. Carolina signed their former number one pick to a one-year contract. The Panthers are thin at the quarterback position as starter Sam Darnold has an injured shoulder blade.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara missed practice for a second straight day yesterday and his status for Sunday’s game at Tennessee is in doubt. Mark Ingram could see more carries and he’s 20 yards away from surpassing Deuce McAllister as the franchise’s all-time leading rusher…

The high school football playoffs are underway. Five games were played last night. East Ascension defeated Southside. Huntington trounced Tioga 68-27, Lincoln Prep pounded Delhi 46-6 and Curtis and Shaw advanced in the Division one bracket. 92 more games will be played this weekend.

And the high school volleyball champions are taking place at the Cajundome in Lafayette. Five title games will take place tomorrow.

Tomorrow night, LSU hosts 25th ranked Arkansas. Coach Ed Orgeron plans to play both Max Johnson and Garrett Nussmeier at quarterback. Orgeron says after watching the two Q-B’s compete this week, Johnson has the edge.

In other action on Saturday, the Ragin Cajuns are at Troy, ULM hosts Arkansas State. Louisiana Tech clashes with Charlotte in Ruston. Tulane takes on Tulsa at Yulman Stadium, Southeastern Louisiana hosts Northwestern State, McNeese is at Houston Baptist, Nicholls hosts UIW, Grambling faces Bethune-Cookman, and Jackson State is at Southern.
