The Saints have another kicker. The team released Cody Parkey after just one game as he received an injury settlement. So New Orleans signed Brian Johnson off the Chicago Bears practice squad as Will Lutz remains on injured reserve recovering from core muscle surgery. Johnson is the fourth kicker the team has signed since Lutz’s injury.

Also in the NFL, former LSU Tiger Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been put on injured reserve by the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards-Helaire suffered a sprained MCL in the loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.

A week from tonight is the regular-season opener for the Pelicans, but will Zion Williamson be on the floor. Coach Willie Green said this week that the All-Star has yet to start running after breaking his foot during the summer. The Pelicans will hold an open practice at Nicholls State this Saturday.

Conference USA has reportedly asked the American Athletic Conference to consider a reorganizing plan that would lead to two new conferences split into geographic lines. But the A-A-C is reportedly not interested.
