Meanwhile, the White House has finally asked Congress to approve disaster relief funding for southwest Louisiana to address long-term recovery needs.

The federal government has yet to approve disaster food stamps, which would help Hurricane Ida victims that are not eligible for the regular food stamp program buy food. Department of Children and Family Services Secretary Marketa Garner Walters says the significant power outages in southeast Louisiana is playing a role in that decision…

Meanwhile, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Louisiana is doing what it can to make sure storm survivors do not go hungry. Second Harvest spokesperson Jay Vise says they’ve delivered one-point-one million pounds of food, water, and supplies to storm victims thanks to donations that have come from food banks in Texas, Florida, and Tennessee…
