On the opening day of the legislative session, Governor John Bel Edwards called early childhood education his number one priority for his second term, proposing an additional 25-million dollars for pre-K programs. Edwards also continued his call to raise the minimum wage and urged legislators to pass a pay transparency bill that he says will help close the gender pay gap.
