The state department of education is gearing up for the L-A Gator Scholarship program. The new school choice program that will provide education scholarship accounts, will begin accepting applications on March 1st. Germain Gilson, the assistant superintendent of school choice, says families can use the money to customize their children’s education.

Louisiana State University at Alexandria is ranked #4 in Niche’s 2025 Best Colleges in Louisiana. Chancellor Paul Coreil says this coincides with a record-high Spring enrollment of nearly seven-thousand undergraduates, a 28% surge, the highest growth rate among Louisiana universities.
