House Republicans meet again today to discuss who should be the next Speaker of the U-S House. After failed attempts by Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise and Ohio Representative Jim Jordan, Mike Johnson from Benton is now a candidate. There are nine Republicans running for Speaker.

The number of unemployed individuals in the month of September was a record low 67,930 according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The state’s workforce has grown by 16-thousand over the last year and Univeristy of Louisiana at Lafayette economist Gary Wagner says there are encouraging signs for the state’s oil and gas industry…

The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children’s 2023 Parent Poll is open. Institute Director Dr. Libbie Sonnier says the survey is a way to check on how families with children 5 years and under are doing. They’ve partnered with the Louisiana Department of Education to gather important data.
