Congressman Garret Graves says gun bans and current background checks are ineffective in stopping mass shootings. Kevin Barnhart has the story.

A Baton Rouge Police officer was shot while responding to a domestic call on Geranium Street Monday night. The Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) says shots were fired at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Geranium Street near Aster Street several blocks north of Tiger Stadium around 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5 while officers were responding to a domestic call. A BRPD officer was shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson with BRPD says two people are being detained in connection to the case, one of which they believe is the shooter.

Shreveport police are investigating an early Saturday morning drive-by shooting that left a one-month old child dead in the Sunset Acres neighborhood. Police Chief Ben Raymond believes there is someone out there that has details that can lead to an arrest, and says they need to come forward.

Authorities have identified the infant victim as Queen Dean, who was struck in the head when a bullet entered her family’s home.
