The mother of the 1-year-old who survived two days in a ditch along I-10 and the 4-year-old found dead in water behind the Vinton Welcome Center, now faces charges of murder and child cruelty. Aaliyah Jack, 25, of Lake Charles faces two charges of failure to report a missing child, along with a count of second-degree murder and a count of cruelty to a juvenile. Her 4-year-old son, Legend, was found dead Monday, then Tuesday morning a truck driver spotted her 1-year-old son, Kingtrail, nicknamed Miracle Baby by Calcasieu Sheriff. Jack is held in Mississippi on a $9.1 million bond. She is fighting extradition to Louisiana.

Forty-two Louisiana restaurants made Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards for 2024. Awards in three categories are given to restaurants with a wide, unique selection of wine. The wine selection must also pair well with the restaurant’s cuisine and appeal to all wine lovers. 3,700 restaurants across the globe earned awards. Twenty-seven of them in New Orleans, up from twenty-2 last year, six in Baton Rouge, two in Lafayette, one in Shreveport and one in Bossier City.
