Low water levels in the Mississippi River have decreased water flow into the gulf, which is allowing salt water to move up the river, potentially impact drinking water systems in southeast Louisiana.

That’s Ricky Boyette, Public Affairs for the Army Corps of Engineers, who says they will use a fleet of barges later this week to provide fresh water to treatment plants along the river.
