The Saints second leading rusher, Mark Ingram, will continue his NFL career in Baltimore, reportedly signing a three-year, 15-million dollar contract with the Ravens. New Orleans will attempt to replace Ingram with Latavius Murray, who has agreed to a 4-year, 14.4 million dollar contract. NFL analyst Mike Detillier says the two are similar backs.

Ingram’s new deal is is one-point-four million per year more than what the Saints will pay Murray. Detillier says the Saints front office knows they have some young players looking to get paid and it just wasn’t worth the cost to pay a 29-year-old running back, five million a year…

In other NFL free agency news, All Pro safety Earl Thomas joins Mark Ingram in Baltimore, former LSU star Odell Beckham Jr. joins LSU temmate Jarvis Landry in Clevland, former Tigers defensive back Tyrann Mathieu is heading to the Chiefs, All-World running back Le’veon Bell is joining the Jets, and former Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro is resigning in Tennesse on a four year deal.
The new NFL season officially kicked off at 3pm today.
LSU basketball leaves today for Nashville, where they’ll play in the SEC Tournament. Naz Reid is ready to play after missing Saturday’s game because of injuries. But Javonte Smart remains sidelined as LSU continues to look into whether his family received improper benefits to attend LSU.
LSU Baseball plays Texas Southern tonight. The Tigers have plummeted down the rankings to 13 after starting the season number one, and Louisiana Tech basketball plays a conference USA game against Florida Atlantic tonight.
