LSU and U-L Lafayette are no longer in the A-P Top 25 poll or the coaches poll. The Tigers lost to UCLA, who is now ranked 16th in both polls, while the Ragin Cajuns fell to Texas, who is now ranked 15th in both polls.

U-L Lafayette is getting ready to host Nicholls, while LSU will take on McNeese in the home opener. Ed Orgeron’s son, Cody, is the starting quarterback for the Cowboys and he’s been starting at McNeese since the 2018 season. Cody Orgeron guided McNeese to a three-and-four season last spring. Ed Orgeron attended all of those games, but Cody says he wasn’t there to scout the Cowboys…

Cody Orgeron threw for a career-high 361 yards in a season-opening loss to West Florida on Saturday.

The Saints have four quarterbacks on their roster heading into Sunday’s season opener against Green Bay. Starter Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill, rookie Ian Book and the team just brought back Trevor Siemian. Based on what Coach Sean Payton said yesterday, it sounds like Hill will go back to playing a variety of positions on offense….

The Saints are also expected to sign veteran cornerback Desmond Trufant. Trufant has eight years of NFL experience with Atlanta and Detroit. He was recently released by the Bears. Linebacker Kwon Alexander plans on playing after rupturing his Achilles Tendon on Christmas Day.

In the high school football polls, University High is the newly ranked number one team in Class 3A after beating Class 5A Central 39-7. Union Parish has moved up to number two.
