LSU’s top playmaker on offense is out for the rest of the year. Kayshon Boutte was carted off the field in the second half of Saturday’s loss to Kentucky with an ankle injury and Coach Ed Orgeron confirmed on Monday it’s a season-ending injury. More injury issues for the Saints at the kicker position. Cody Parkey is going on I-R with a groin injury and the team is reportedly signing Brian Johnson off the Chicago Bears practice squad. Johnson has yet to attempt a kick in the NFL but he was 39 of 49 on field goals at Virginia Tech.
The Ragin Cajuns take a four-game winning streak in tonight’s Sun Belt showdown against Appalachian State. Both teams are 4-and-1 and the Mountaineers have won three in a row since losing to Miami on September 11th. App State’s Chase Brice is the Sun Belt’s top passer, averaging 272 yards per game. Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger is reporting Conference USA will ask the American Atheltic Conference about reorganizing the league into two new conferences split into geographic lines. The A-A-C is losing three members, Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF to the Big 12 and the A-A-C is reportedly looking at taking U-A-B away from Conference USA.
