President Donald Trump spoke to the nation last night for this year’s State of the Union address, touching on a series of issues including the border wall debate, the economy, healthcare, and foreign policy issues like his late February meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Senator Bill Cassidy applauded the speech.

There’s less than two weeks until the next potential government shutdown triggers.

A now former Vermilion Parish deputy is out of a job and behind bars after an investigation by the special victims unit of state police.  State Police Sgt. Jared Sandifer says the investigation of 42-year-old Bryan Kibodeaux of Abbeville began in late January from a tip given to law enforcement, and says several agencies contributed to the investigation and arrest of Kibodeaux, including the suspect’s own employer.

Entergy is bringing advanced meters to the company’s customers.  The roll out for homes and businesses starts this month in New Orleans. Between the four states Entergy serves, Entergy VP of grid modernization Lauren Kenney estimates they’ll have about one million meters rolled out by the end of 2019.

Kenney says among the biggest benefits for customers is to be ability to track energy usage via online tools.
