The U-S Senate has proposed a 118-billion dollar immigration bill that supporters say will overhaul immigration system by imposing tougher asylum and border laws. But House Speaker Mike Johnson from Bossier Parish says the legislation would incentivize more illegal immigration.

A man and woman were fatally shot in the front yard of their home in Houma on Friday.  Lieutenant Blake Tabor with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office says The victims were returning home from the Krewe of Hercules parade when gunfire erupted. Tabor says this was a senseless act of violence.

Minden police are searching for a man suspected of shooting two people last Wednesday. Minden Police say they are seeking 28-year-old, Jaryon Stephens and have issued a warrant for his arrest on attempted second degree murder charges after one man found Wednesday in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Drive was shot multiple times and another man shot in his leg was found on Friday.
