Republican state lawmakers frustrated with Governor Edwards’ public health emergency restrictions appear likely to call for a special session that would reportedly begin September 28th. LaPolitics.com Publisher Jeremy Alford says the driving goal would be to overturn some of the Governor’s restrictions like capacity limits and the closure of bars by 11 PM, but it’s not clear whether they could muster the votes to do it…

Tropical Storm Beta looks like it’ll dump a few inches of rain on the state. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the rain will be on and off for the next few days but as long as Beta doesn’t produce huge amounts of rain over a short period of time, we should be fine.

Louisiana local governments are expected to see a six percent decline in revenues for the 2021 fiscal year due to COVID and Laura. Hurricane ravaged Cameron and Calcasieu are expected to see a 17 and 10 percent drop in 2021 revenue respectively. Other parishes seeing the largest declines in fiscal year 2021 are Orleans at 13 percent, Jefferson and Natchitoches at eight percent, and St. John, St. Tammany, and Beauregard at six percent.
