Northwest and north central Louisiana are under an enhanced risk for severe weather tonight and into the overnight hours. Matt Hemingway with the National Weather Service in Shreveport says a strong cold front will collide with warm air to create severe thunderstorms…:

He says straight-line winds of up to 80 miles per hour and hail as large as golf balls are possible. The bad weather should move on through the state by afternoon.

The drawing for Saturday’s Powerball Jackpot hits an all-time high at $1.6 billion, with a cash value of $782-million. Louisiana Lottery spokesman Dustin Annison says that is driving ticket sales. From August 1st through to yesterday, over $25-million in tickets in Louisiana alone…:

It’s been since 2018 that anyone in Louisiana has scored a Powerball jackpot…so we’re due.

Rock and country legend Jerry Lee Lewis will be laid to rest tomorrow in his hometown of Ferriday, in Concordia Parish. He died last week at age 87. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 AM at Young’s Funeral Home, and will be streamed online at “MidSouth.tv”.

Heavy rains expected tomorrow across Louisiana should be clearing Baton Rouge in time for kickoff of the LSU – Alabama game. Kickoff is at 6 PM in Tiger Stadium.
