The Louisiana Department of Health is reminding you to protect yourself from West Nile virus this summer by taking precautions against mosquito bites.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents have arrested six people for allegedly committing fraud in hog-hunting contests in Caldwell and Bienville parishes. Agents received a tip that the six individuals were catching wild hogs in Texas and entering them into Louisiana contests. Hunting fraud brings up to a $3,000 fine and one year in jail.

 

The first tropical wave of the 2024 hurricane season has formed over the southeast Gulf of Mexico. While it’s not a threat to Louisiana, LSU Climatologist Barry Keim says it’s indicative of the slowest start to a season since 2014.

NOAA has predicted 8 to 13 hurricanes this year for the Atlantic season with 4 to 7 forecasted to be major hurricanes.

 

The Saints three-day mandatory minicamp started yesterday and saw many players absent from OTAs report to their facilities like Alvin Kamara and Marshon Lattimore. Many have criticized Kamara and other Saints players for not being at team OTAs this offseason, which has created a negative narrative around player participation within the team. Kamara says he is not going to go along with that narrative because he cares about the team and his teammates.
