State Police will be out in force this Labor Day weekend looking for drunk drivers. Louisiana Highway Safety Commission Spokesperson Greg Fischer says historically Labor Day is the second deadliest holiday and data from LSU shows 38 vehicle fatalities from 2017 to 2021.
Fischer urges the public to drive sober and plan for rideshare if needed.
Labor Day gas prices on average are $3.40 a gallon for regular gas across the Gulf South according to Triple-A. Fuel analyst Don Redman says motorists in Alabama, Texas, and Louisiana will see prices range between $3.30 and $3.40 a gallon of regular gas this weekend.
Redman says Mississippi has the best price of around $3.30 a gallon.

No. 5 LSU Tigers will be battling No. 8 Florida State Seminoles this weekend on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. central time. This is the only top-10 matchup of the weekend, and Coach Brian Kelly says that both team’s play styles are very similar.
