The US Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, has temporarily halted the implementation of a Louisiana law that would have required that abortion providers have admitting privileges at a local hospital. The regulation passed back in 2014, has been blocked repeatedly, but last month was ruled constitutional by an Appellate Court.

Attorney General Jeff Landry says it’s interesting to note the four liberal justices on the court were joined by a Chief Justice who was appointed by President George W Bush.

The IRS is warning the public about “ghost preparers” ahead of filing taxes, where someone will prepare a return for a fee and leave the taxpayer with an inaccurate return before vanishing.  IRS spokesperson Raphael Tulino says if you think you’ve encountered a scammer trying to prep your taxes…

A rideshare driver for Lyft has been arrested and accused of kidnapping and raping an intoxicated passenger in Jefferson Parish.  Authorities say 30-year-old Yousef Hamed picked up the victim from a bar and instead of taking her to her home, he then took her to his home in Harvey and raped the woman.  Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto says Hamad broke the responsibility he had to the passenger in getting her home safely.
