A 75 year old Boyce resident now has a nice stack of cash after claiming a lottery ticket matching all five numbers with the Poweball’s June 23rd drawing. Louisiana Lottery spokesperson Dustin Annison says this serves as a reminder that luck could be in anyone’s favor with the drawings.

A 3 AM traffic stop today in Baton Rouge resulted in gunfire involving a Louisiana State Police trooper. Troop A spokesperson Bryan Lee says the trooper only sustained minor injuries in the altercation, but the passenger was hit by the gunfire and taken to a local hospital.

Louisiana’s Republicans US Senators are impressed with President Donald Trump’s nomination for the US Supreme Court. DC-based federal appeals court Judge Brett Kavanaugh is widely considered a consistently conservative jurist. Senator Bill Cassidy says the Senate will review his record, then vote on his confirmation….
According to Politico, Kavanaugh’s has ruled and dissented against labor unions and workers’ rights in employment disputes, against regulatory agencies policies, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the EPA, for immigration restrictions, and called the Net Neutrality “Unlawful”.
