The Sunshine Bridge connecting Donaldsonville to Sorrento to cross the Mississippi has been closed due to damage sustained from a barge carrying a crane colliding with the structure. DOTD Communications Director Rodney Mallett says the closure is going to be an inconvenience to the estimated 25-thousand drivers that use the structure on a daily basis, but there are alternate ways of crossing the Mississippi River.
