A $180 thousand grant is helping The State Fire Marshal provide smoke alarms to Louisianans during Fire Prevention Week. Spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says this will give families access to the most critical emergency alert equipment that could save lives.

The Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating two fatal shootings that happened within hours of each other on Friday night that may be related. The victim in the first shooting at Circle K is the son of Jonesboro-Hodge football coach Terrance Blakenship. The victim in the second shooting two-hours later is 30-year-old Devontre Jackson of Grambling. Sheriff Andy Brown says the second shooting was the result of an argument that started at the Jonesboro-Hodge homecoming game. Brown says it’s rare to have a fatal shooting in Jackson Parish, let alone two within hours of each other…
