The unemployment rate is down from 6.1 percent in January 2016.

We Ask America puts the Governor’s race run-off at a 47 to 47 percent dead heat between John Bel Edwards and Eddie Rispone. Pollster Andrew Weissert says Rispone’s campaign has to be happy with the results here. He says it didn’t take long for him to consolidate the GOP vote following the primary.

The run-off is November 16th.

A Shreveport man accused of shooting two people, including a police officer, on the Grambling State campus overnight is in custody. State Police Trooper Michael Reichardt says the officer’s injury is non-life threatening, while the other shooting victim is in serious condition at a Shreveport hospital. Reichardt says 19-year-old Princeton Adams was arrested shortly after the shooting, which happened at 1:30 in the morning

The unveiling of a monument to Lynyrd Skynyrd takes place Sunday in Gillsburg, MS, the site of the band’s 1977 plane crash.  Sunday marks the anniversary and President of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Monument Project Bobby McDaniel says they will recognize those impacted by the crash, including five survivors.
