Shreveport Police confirmed the man shown firing fatal gun shots at Rannita Williams while on Facebook Live is 36-year-old Johnathan Robinson. Police Chief Alvin Crump says when they brought Robinson to jail, he became violent again…

Crump says Robinson broke a water pipe and flooeded his cell. Authorities also say Robinson and the victim had a romantic history.

Former Baton Rouge Police officer Blane Salamoni has appealed his firing with a local civil service board. Police Chief Murphy Paul says Salamoni did not follow policies and procedures when he fatally shot Alton Sterling in 2016. Salamoni’s attorney John McLindon says he’s heard from officers nationwide that the firing was unjust….

A hearing on the appeal is expected this summer.

The state has activated its Crisis Action Team, because of the threat of severe weather today and tomorrow. Northwest Louisiana is under a tornado watch until 10 PM tonight. GOHSEP spokesman Mike Steele says the eastern portion of the state could see as much as 6 inches between now and tomorrow night…

Several schools in northwest Louisiana had early dismissal because of the severe weather threat.

Legislation that would have created an oversight commission for district attorneys to watch for misconduct failed in a House committee this morning. Pete Adams represents district attorneys at the capitol and told the panel the bill is flawed….
