Neville High school needs a new football coach. Jeff Tannehill has resigned after four seasons. Tannehill was placed on administrative leave March 1 as part of an investigation into possible misuse of student funds at Monroe City Schools. He was reinstated three weeks later. The Ouachita Citizen reports Tannehill’s resignation has nothing to do with the audit.

A bill to allow ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug that made headlines during the pandemic, to be sold over the counter in Louisiana advances from House Health and Welfare. Schriever Representative Beryl Amedee says it’s safe, effective, and virtually harmless for humans.

The bill passed committee 7-4 vote and advances to the House.

The full House has approved legislation that would make it a crime for a person to be within 25 feet of a working law enforcement officer if they’ve been told to retreat or stop. Opponents raised concerns about constitutional rights and whether onlookers can still get good video of potential police misconduct. Thibodaux Representative Bryan Fontenot says 25 feet is a sufficient distance.
