Authorities say seven inmates at the DC-3 women’s prison in Cottonport escaped early this morning. As of Tuesday afternoon, two remain on the run. Tim Ryan with the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office says the escapees were given a ride to various locations in the Bunkie area and they are not sure if it was a coordinated effort with individuals outside the facility…

First year head football coach at West Monroe, Todd Garvin, has been placed on administrative until further notice. Principal Dan Lane made that announcement today. An official reason was not given, but there have been reports that several players on the team have left practice and went to the hospital suffering from heat illness.
