A community mourns a Caddo Parish police officer killed in the line of duty. People packed the stands at the North Caddo football field for a vigil for Vivian police officer Marc Brock, who was shot to death as he was investigating a cyberstalking complaint against 58-year-old Nicolas Alexander. Commissioner Chris Kracman, whose district includes Vivian, says the turnout is a testament to how much people loved Brock.

A chemistry professor at Southeastern Louisiana who was removed from leading the Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project files a grievance, seeking to be reinstated into that role. It happened after a story ran in which Dr. Fereshteh Emami (fuh-RESH-teh uh-MAH-mee) described elevated levels of toxic metals and pollution in the lake. Her attorney, William Most, says the school violated her academic freedoms.

A former University of New Orleans basketball player owns up to his mistake. Dae Dae Hunter appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America and admitted to his role in a point shaving scandal. The NCAA accused Hunter and two of his teammates, Duquavian Short and Jamond Vincent, of intentionally trying to lose against the point spread in at least seven games last season. Hunter admitted he was in on it.
Hunter said he did it so that he could get money to care for his newborn child.
ULM loses its sixth in a row, falling to South Alabama, 26-14. Coach Bryant Vincent says the Warhawks are having a hard time staying away from beating themselves.
