South Louisiana and the Mississippi River Delta parishes are under a flash flood watch through Saturday afternoon as a Tropical Depression in the Gulf moves towards the Louisiana coast and collides with a cold front. But National Weather Service Forecaster Phil Grigsby says we are not expecting a significant tropical threat

Grigsby says we could see coastal flooding by Grand Isle and lower Terrebonne parishes and rainfall totals between two and four inches.

Former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s project E Pluribus Unum surveyed 800 people across the South for their views on race, with the report finding substantial disparities in how different groups view key issues. The survey found a slight plurality of both black and white respondents do not believe the Civil War was fought over slavery. Landrieu says that’s a sign that more education on the topic is needed.

We’re awaiting the Saints injury report this afternoon to see whether or not either of Drew Brees or Alvin Kamara will suit up for the Black and Gold his Sunday in the Dome against Arizona. Kamara missed last weeks game against the Bears and Brees has been out since a week two injury.

And the Pelicans have their home opener tonight against the Mavs, with tip-off set for 7PM. The team lost a close game in overtime to start the season Tuesday against the Raptors.
