An Amber Alert has been issued for two missing girls whose mother was found murdered inside their home. Trooper William Huggins with State Police says the two girls were abducted from a home in Loranger before 8 AM this morning. LSP issued the Amber Alert on behalf of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.

An unknown white male is wanted for questioning for the domestic incident and the abduction. Huggins says he’s believed to be driving a black 2012 Chrysler 200 with a missing back right hubcap. Louisiana license plate 859 GML.

BESE approves a new performance plan “Grow.Achieve.Thrive”. BESE President Ronnie Morris says the new system also allows schools to build relationships with businesses and community partners to provide internships for students.

The Community Lighthouse Project that provides solar powered refuge during power outages is set to open more facilities. Representative Troy Carter of New Orleans, who donated almost 4 million dollars to the project last year, says community members could refrigerate medicine, shelter from a storm, and avoid heatstroke.  There are currently six lighthouses, and more are in the works…
