Governor Jeff Landry must produce text messages he sent to LSU Board Chair, Scott Ballard about law professor, Ken Levy who was suspended after he made critical remarks about Landry to his students. Levy testified Monday that he was told and believes a student reported his comments to Landry who then reached out to Balland. Levy’s attorney, Jill Craft, says Levy’s comments are protected free speech. Nineteenth Judicial District Judge Tarvald Smith ordered Landry to produce the messages after Craft requested them.
A Flood Watch is in effect for northern Louisiana due to heavy rainfall expected through Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service says there will be a 50-75% chance that rainfall totals will be greater than three inches for the area. Baton Rouge-based Cajun Industries has chosen the Port of Iberia for its new 60-acre assembly yard, where heavy industrial modules will be built. Port of Iberia Executive Director Craig Romero says Cajun Industry says, at full capacity, the facility will employ over 600 skilled workers, including crane operators, pipefitters, and welders.
