Cut 2 (31)  “…I’m Jeff Palermo”

The death of a 42 year old man while in the custody of St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office is investigation. Hector Ruiz-Santos was arrested Sunday night, accused of battery on a police officer, resisting a police officer with force-non aggravated, and disturbing the peace-violent tumultuous manner. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking but upon arrival Ruiz-Santos was unresponsive.

Walker High School Principal Jason St. Pierre posted on social media that he apologized to Senior Student, Kaylee Timonet (Tim-oh-net) for reprimanding her for dancing at a party, kicking her off student government and revoking her scholarship endorsement. St. Pierre also said he reinstated the scholarship endorsement but Timonet says, it’s too late. The scholarship deadline has passed.

Cut 8 (09) “…legal action.”

St. Pierre is taking leave for the rest of the school year.

It’s Fire Prevention week and In 2022, there were 78 fire-related deaths in Louisiana, and smoke alarms were found in only 11 of those homes. Spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says a working smoke alarm is critical during winter months when many people use appliances to stay warm.

Cut 11 (13) “…out safely.”
