The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical disturbance near the southeast Bahamas that’s expected to move over the Florida straits and into the Gulf of Mexico late this week and into this weekend. Forecasters give the tropical wave a low chance of developing into a tropical depression over the next five days.

New Iberia Police announce an arrest in last month’s murder of 17-year-old Garon Lewis, who was found shot to death in a vehicle. 20-year-old Trevonce Bernard has been charged with second-degree murder. Police are releasing very few details and the victim’s father, Raymond Lewis, gave this message during a press conference today…
